Changing a link into words?

I was wondering becuase I have seen it before. If I want to post a link but then change that link to words (such as telling what the link is). How do I do that?ThanksChanging a link into words?try using href tags, %26lt;a href=%26quot;URL of link%26quot;%26gt;your text goes here%26lt;/a%26gt; but this only works on sites that allow HTML tags.

http://graphx.kwikphp.com/Changing a link into words?Easiest way I've found is to copy the link into Notepad, select the result and then copy it into the message. Notepad doesn't handle links so pasting it in strips out the link.Changing a link into words?when you make the link put the words in the %26quot;screen tip%26quot; and then it will be displayed as an info to the user..got it..?Changing a link into words?I presume you mean here in the Y!Answers pages... I have found from recent experience (since I never used to include web links in my answers or source references, but occasionally do so now) that it's about how you type the words and letters in. For example:

http://answers.yahoo.com or http://www.yahoo.com are links because its an address... and will underline and be click-able according to your browser's rules

BUT

if you only type www.yahoo.com it will only show up in text as a web address, and in this instance readers will have to copy and paste it into a new browser tab or window.

If you want to include a web link from a site that creates a ridiculously long web address, try looking at http://tinyurl.com, there are many similar sites that do the same thing, but I've found most people do respond better to this type of link. The web address for this page has a length of 84 characters and resulted in the following TinyURL which has a length of 25 characters (a lot smaller) giving you http://tinyurl.com/9ewyox presuming it works...

If you want to send it to your friends. Search engine results and streetmap.co.uk/com pages, as just a couple of examples also benefit from this system, try it out for yourself and see!

Mozilla Firefox or any browser that uses tabs and when you click the link it opens another tab in the current window not another window on your task bar...

Hope that answers your question, regards
